Regional Data & community

The Sharjah Forum 2024, under the theme of “Data in Culture Promotion,” brought together experts and policymakers to discuss how data plays a crucial role in shaping culture and reinforcing noble values. Organized under the patronage of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the event highlighted how data can be used not just for statistical analysis but as a key tool in nurturing community development and promoting ethical values.

Data is often viewed as mere numbers, but its potential to influence culture is far-reaching. During the forum, Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi emphasized that data serves as a mirror, accurately reflecting the needs of the community. By leveraging this information, policymakers can make informed decisions to support cultural initiatives that resonate with the public.

In past forums, experts have shared similar views, stating that using data effectively can shape public policy, especially in areas like education, public safety, and social welfare. This year’s forum also focused on how data can help preserve and promote the cultural identity of Sharjah and the UAE, ensuring that modernity does not overshadow the region’s rich traditions.

Key speakers, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Finance Department, highlighted how Sharjahโ€™s Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) uses data-driven strategies to maintain and reinforce noble values within communities. Data is crucial in identifying gaps in community services and cultural programs, allowing organizations to tailor initiatives that align with the population’s values.
