In a significant cultural initiative, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has launched a groundbreaking project to document the life and legacy of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, often referred to as the mastermind behind Dubai’s remarkable transformation.

This UAE documentary initiative, spearheaded by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), aims to preserve the vision and achievements of Sheikh Rashid, who played a pivotal role in shaping Dubai into the world-class city it is today.

The project, titled “Documenting the Legacy of Sheikh Rashid,” coincides with the 34th anniversary of Sheikh Rashid’s passing and seeks to honor his contributions to politics, society, and Dubai’s rapid urban and economic development. Through a comprehensive archive, the initiative will capture the essence of Sheikh Rashid’s leadership and foresight in turning Dubai into a hub for trade, finance, and innovation.

Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, noted that this initiative is not just about chronicling the past but about instilling a deep sense of national pride in future generations. “The legacy of Sheikh Rashid is a testament to visionary leadership, and it is our duty to preserve it,” he remarked.

This initiative follows the success of past UAE projects aimed at preserving the country’s rich heritage. For example, the “Year of Zayed” campaign in 2018, which commemorated the legacy of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, was widely lauded for its role in educating both locals and expatriates about the values that underpin the nation’s development.

Industry experts believe this documentary will further solidify Dubai’s position as a city that honors its past while constantly moving toward the future. The UAE’s commitment to such initiatives highlights its focus on nation-building through cultural preservation.
